Christ the King Catholic Church Honduras Mission

"Centered around the Eucharist, we go forth to heal the sick, offer spiritual encouragement, and educational support."

Each Spring since 1997 Christ the King parish sends 90-95 missionaries to Trujillo Honduras to bring hope and love to the poorest of the poor. This year's theme is "Come Holy Spirit". Although sharing the Holy Spirit is the mission's primary focus, the scope of the mission is far-reaching:

Evangelization - Working together with Honduran church leaders or delegados, our evangelism missionaries provide information on Catholicism at each clinic site. The focus of our teaching is to strengthen the faith of our Honduran brothers and to support the training of the delegados.

Medical Outreach - includes 3 medical clinics located in outlying villages, plus eye and dental clinics. The surgical team performs life-changing surgeries on children with deformities at the Trujillo hospital. Our hearing team screens schoolchildren for hearing loss and provides hearing aides.

Education - the mission supports 9 schools, provides teacher workshops, and has initiated vocational programs in sewing, woodworking and computer technology. Hygiene and other topics to improve their quality of life are taught to patients at the clinic sites. First Aide courses are taught to women in villages without access to medical care. Educational offerings are presented to the hospital nurses in Trujillo.

Construction – this team has built and remodeled schools and churches, modernized the hospital, improved sanitation, and created permanent changes in the lives of the people we serve.
