Christ the King Catholic Church Honduras Mission

"Centered around the Eucharist, we go forth to heal the sick, offer spiritual encouragement, and educational support."

Each year since 1997 Christ the King Parish sends 90-95 missionaries to Trujillo Honduras to bring hope and love to the poorest of the poor. This year's theme is "Jesus, the Good Shepherd". Although sharing our faith is the mission's primary focus, the scope of the mission is far-reaching:

Medical Outreach - includes 3 medical clinics located in outlying villages; also eye, dental, and hospital clinics. The surgical team performs life-changing surgeries on children with deformities at the Trujillo hospital. Our hearing team screens school children for hearing loss and provides hearing aides.

Education - the mission supports 10 schools. Our school team conducts workshops for the faculty and bible school classes for the students. We have initiated vocational programs in sewing, wood-working, and computer technology. Hygiene and other topics to improve quality of life are taught to patients at our clinic sites. First Aide courses are taught to women in villages without access to medical care. Educational offerings are presented to the hospital staff in Trujillo.

Construction - this team has built and remodeled schools and churches, modernized the hospital, improved sanitation, and created permanent changes in the lives of the people we serve. Our current focus is the restoration of the schools we serve, and the development of vocational programs in the high school.

Evangelization - our mission priest leads this team and provides spiritual support to our missionaries and to the people we serve. We evangelize at all clinic sites, provide training to the local church leaders, and work with the Bishop and church leaders to strengthen their youth ministry.
